Hwaseong's agenda to join the K League 2 in 2025 was approved at the 5th board of directors of the Korean Professional Football Federation held at the Swiss Grand Hotel in Hongeun-dong, Seoul on the 29th of last month. The K League 2 advance will be finally approved at the general meeting of delegates to be held after paying the K League membership fee in January next year 2025.
Hwaseong FC's entry into K League 2 is to prepare for the launch of the Hwaseong Special City, play a central role in establishing the identity of 1.03 million Hwaseong citizens, spread sports viewing culture where citizens can have attachment and pride, and improve the quality of cultural welfare in the region.
Hwaseong FC carried out various activities to promote professional activities. In order to form a civic consensus and create a boom-up atmosphere, a public-private joint professional promotion committee (36 experts and 579 citizens) will be organized and commissioned, 54 middle and high schools in Hwaseong and Osan, Gyeonggi Province, and a sports club soccer tournament involving 1,300 people after signing a business agreement with the Hwaseong and Osan Office of Education, the first Hwaseong FC Bae Youth Soccer Festival, a professional-promoted academic seminar in collaboration with local Jangan University, a resident briefing session (6 times), a direct visit to 29 towns and villages in Hwaseong, listening to opinions, school boom-up (27 times, 2,000 participants) for school visit programs, and various citizens' opinions.
Hwaseong FC owner Chung Myung-geun said, `With the launch of Hwaseong Special City on January 1, 2025, Hwaseong Special City is about to take a new leap forward to the 'Special City of Soccer' with 1.03 million Hwaseong citizens.` We ask for your attention and encouragement to Hwaseong's new challenge.'
Hwaseong is set to be launched on January 1, 2025 in Hwaseong Special City. It became the fifth basic local government in the country to exceed 1 million after Suwon, Yongin, Goyang, and Changwon. Based on high-quality jobs and pleasant residential spaces, Hwaseong plans to create a 'city where imagination becomes a reality' with the potential to grow up to 2 million people.
