"We were fantastic keystones...."

It is rare for the same schoolmates to play on the same team. It is not common to select the same high school player from the same team. That's why it's also a hot topic when a high school colleague plays for the same team through trade.

The same high school classmate is also playing for the LG Twins. They are pitcher Baek Seung-hyun and second baseman Shin Min-jae. Both are from Incheon High School.

The start was different. Baek Seung-hyun drew attention as Oh Ji-hwan's successor as he was selected in the 30th place in the second third round in 2015.

On the other hand, Shin Min-jae did not receive the designation and entered the Doosan Bears as a nurturing player. However, he did not get a chance and was selected by LG in the second draft after the 2018 season, and he will wear a stripe uniform and join Baek Seung-hyun since 2019.

But neither was smooth.

Baek Seung-hyun came to the first team for the first time in 2017, but he had no impact. Since the hit was not good, it was only possible to go out mainly in the logarithmic ratio. In order to improve his skills, his baseball life changed after playing in the Australian League for Geelong Korea after the 2019 season. At that time, he took the mound and sprayed the ball due to a lack of pitchers, but he drew attention with a whopping 154km of arrest. And in 2020, when there was no hope as a batter, he eventually turned into a pitcher in 2021.

He got off to a good start with a 2.16 ERA, including 16 games in the first team in 2021, his first year as a pitcher, and his first hold in his career, but in 2022, he was not easy to settle as a pitcher with a 10.80 ERA with one loss and one hold in 12 games.

Shin Min-jae came to LG and reached the first division for the first time in 2019. He stole 10 bases as a pinch-runner agent. Since then, he has mainly been a pinch runner agent due to his fast feet, and he has also been an outfielder for the opportunity to play, but not many opportunities have come.

Both entered new lives last year under new coach Yeom Kyung-yeop.

Baek Seung-hyun has grown into a first-team bullpen pitcher with fastballs. He has firmly established himself as a pitcher with a 1.58 ERA with 2 wins, 3 saves and 11 holds in 42 games.

Shin Min-jae did not miss the opportunity that came. Shin Min-jae, who played as manager Yeom's No. 1 pinch runner, began to play second base little by little when Seo Geon-chang, the main second baseman, was sluggish, and he became the main second baseman as he showed good batting performance. He batted .277, 78 hits, 47 runs, and 37 steals.

Unfortunately, the two have been mixed this season. It was different.

Baek Seung-hyun expected an upgrade to the must-win group, but he was sluggish with a 9.11 ERA with 2 wins, 1 loss, 2 saves and 1 hold in 36 games. He suffered trial and error as his strength, his restraint, was jagged.

On the other hand, Shin Min-jae firmly established his position as the main player at second base. He had a batting average of 297, 115 hits, 78 runs, and 32 steals. After the season, he was also selected for the Premier 12 national team and showed good performance.

Even after coming to the professional league, if you played as a Keystone duo on the same team, a more dramatic story would have come out, but it would be meaningful just to overcome the difficulties and play together on the first team stage.
