The nation's largest ice hockey festival will be held. The 79th National Ice Hockey Championship (co-hosted by Sports Chosun, Chosun Ilbo, and Korea Ice Hockey Association) will be held from the 21st to the 24th. The preliminary round will be held at Korea University's ice rink, and the semifinals and finals will be held at Mokdong Ice Rink in Seoul. The National Championship, which began in 1946, shortly after liberation, is the nation's largest ice hockey festival in which both vocational and university teams compete for the best skills.

In this competition, the number of new teams in the general department will increase by two teams, which will be expanded to a larger scale. A total of six teams will participate, including three general teams (HL Anyang, KW Woodyre, and Chameleons) and three universities (Korea University, Kwangwoon University, and Yonsei University). With HL Anyang aiming to win for the fifth consecutive year, new teams are also dreaming of a major upset. The topic of Kwangwoon University, Korea University, and Yonsei University, which are united by spirit, is rebellion.

In the case of KW Woodyre, it was founded on the 13th and will make its debut at this tournament. It is the first time in about eight years that the new team has been established as an independent section of 'Semi Business Team' since Kangwon Land (dismantled) in 2004 and Daemyung (dismantled) in 2016. The Chameleons, founded as an independent team, is also the first official stage.

HL Anyang and Yonsei University, who faced each other in last year's final, were seeded. KW Woodyre, Chameleons, Kwangwoon University, and Korea University will play in the preliminary round. Korea University and KW Woodyre on the 21st, Chameleons and Korea University on the 21st, Yonsei University and HL Anyang, who came to the semifinals on the 23rd, and the preliminary winners will clash. The long-awaited final will take place on the 24th.
