LG officially announced on the 13th that it signed an FA contract with Kim Kang-ryul. LG said it signed a contract with Kim Kang-ryul for 3+1 years and up to 1.4 billion won (down payment of 500 million won and annual salary of 900 million won).
"I would like to thank the LG Twins for signing the contract on good terms," said Kim Kang-ryul. It was not easy to decide to move a team that had been in the team for a long time, but now we have to do our best to protect LG Twins' victory. I will try to win any position and prepare well to repay the team with good results.
Kim Kang-ryul graduated from Gyeonggi High School and joined Doosan in 2007 as the 26th in the second round of the fourth round. Kim Kang-ryul only played for Doosan. Kim Kang-ryul recorded a 3.81 ERA with 26 wins, 14 losses, 46 saves and 56 holds in 476 ⅔ innings in his career of 448 games. In the 2024 season, he also recorded a 3.00 ERA with two wins, two losses and one save and 12 holds in 53 games and 42 innings.
LG added that `Kim Kang-ryul is a pitcher with a lot of experience and know-how, and we expect him to play his part along with his performance in the bullpen based on his stable game management ability in the future.'
LG is focusing on strengthening its bullpen in this stove league.
First, KIA relief pitcher Jang Hyun-sik was recruited for a total of 5.2 billion won for four years. LG struggled due to thin bullpen depth in the 2024 season. It moved aggressively to strengthen its weaknesses.
As the previous closer Yoo Young-chan underwent surgery, LG also recruited Kim Kang-ryul. Yoo Young-chan is expected to miss the early part of the season.

Samsung announced on the 6th that it signed an FA contract with Choi Won-tae for a total of 7 billion won for four years. Choi Won-tae's main team, LG, can name a reward player from Samsung.
Choi Won-tae was a Grade A FA. Under the KBO rules, LG can receive one compensation player other than Samsung's 20 protected players and Choi Won-tae's 200% annual salary from the previous year. It is only possible to choose 300% of annual salary instead of compensation players, but there is virtually no possibility that LG will only take money because Samsung has many good resources.
The Golden Glove Awards will also be held in the afternoon. LG produced 10 candidates, including pitcher Ens Son Joo-young and Lim Chan-kyu, catcher Park Dong-won, first baseman Austin, second baseman Shin Min-jae, third baseman Moon Bo-kyung, shortstop Oh Ji-hwan, and outfielder Park Hae-min and Hong Chang-ki. Along with the winning team KIA, the most candidates came out. LG's busy day has begun.
