KBO said on the 4th that it has asked the MLB Secretariat to post Kim Hye-sung to 30 MLB clubs at the request of the Kiwoom Heroes club.
As a result, 30 MLB clubs will be able to negotiate contracts with Kim Hye-sung from 8 a.m. (U.S. Eastern Time) the day after the MLB Secretariat announced the posting to 5 p.m. on the 30th day, and if they sign a contract, they will have to pay the transfer fee under the Korea-U.S. player contract agreement to Kiwoom Heroes.
If the contract is not reached by the negotiation expiration date, the posting will be terminated, and Kim Hye-sung cannot be posted until November 1 of the following year.
Kiwoom also said that if the Major League Secretariat notifies the posting at the request of KBO, Kim Hye-sung will start full-fledged negotiations with 30 Major League teams for 30 days from 8 a.m. the next day (US Eastern time)," he said.
Kim Hye-sung delivered his intention to challenge the Major League to the club earlier this year, and Kiwoom promised to respect and actively support it.
If Kim Hye-sung signs a contract with a major league club, Kiwoom will produce its fifth major leaguer after Kang Jung-ho in 2014, Park Byung-ho in 2015, Kim Ha-sung in 2020, and Lee Jung-hoo in 2023.
Kim Hye-sung, who was nominated by Kiwoom in the second round of the 2017 Rookie Draft, has grown every year and has been reborn as a representative infielder in the KBO League. He won the Golden Glove at shortstop in 2021 and the Golden Glove at second base in 2022 and 2023, becoming the star of the Golden Glove for the third consecutive year. Kim Hye-sung is the only player in KBO league history to win both shortstop and second baseman's Golden Glove. In addition, he was honored with the second base in the KBO defensive award, which was newly established in 2023, and was recognized for his skills in both offense and defense.
Kim Hye-sung played in 953 games in eight KBO league seasons and recorded a batting average of 0.304 with 1,043 hits in 3,433 at-bats, 37 homers, 386 RBIs, 591 runs and 211 steals.
Kim Hye-sung left for Los Angeles on the 28th of last month and is preparing for a posting schedule by conducting training at a training site prepared by her agency.
From 2 a.m. on the 5th (Korea time), the MLB Secretariat will notify 30 clubs of Kim Hye-sung's posting, and Kim Hye-sung's negotiations will begin at 10 p.m. on the 5th. The deadline is 7 a.m. on January 4th next year.
