Jeonbuk announced on the 24th that it will appoint Foye as its new head coach. He has coached the Greek national team until recently after playing Brighton & Hove Albion, Sunderland, AEK Athens, Real Betis, and Bordeaux. Jeonbuk predicted that the experience and know-how of Foye's adversity accumulated through his success and failure as a leader in the English Premier League, the world's best soccer stage, will be a great driving force to re-establish the team. He also explained that `In particular, the ability to show sincerity in soccer and communicate and embrace with players was evaluated as the best advantage to manage Jeonbuk's squad consisting of top-level players in the league in a healthy manner.'
Coach Foyet will be with his division, including head coach Mauricio Tariko, who has been with Brighton for 15 years, physical coach Bulgaris Panayotis, and analysis coach Diego Foyet. Coach Jeong Jo-guk, who played for Jeju United, and goalkeeper coach Hwang Hee-hoon, who served as the full-time KFA leader, will also join.
Jeonbuk's general manager Lee Do-hyun said, `It was not an easy decision because there were many good coaches at home and abroad. The decision was made after much consideration, considering both the current situation of the team and the mid- to long-term perspective"He put high empathy and communication skills for the club's vision and philosophy as the most important criteria for appointment, and he was impressed and trusted by Foyet's clear direction toward football and his passion for the team."
Gus Foyet said, `The Asian and K-League stages are a new challenge as a manager. I will make it with the players and fans so that this challenge can be successful"Football thinks communication and trust can outpace tactics and strategies. We will do our best to communicate with the players and trust from fans so that Jeonbuk Hyundai can be reborn as the best team in the K League," he expressed his ambition.
Meanwhile, coach Foyet plans to enter the country this weekend to ensure that the team's first official schedule for the 2025 season, Thailand's off-season training, will not be disrupted after completing the schedule, including the clubhouse inspection and inauguration press conference.
