Lee Joon-hee was elected in the 44th election for the president of the Korea Wrestling Association.

In the presidential election held at Mokwon University Gymnasium in Daejeon on the 21st, Lee received 140 votes (62.5%) out of a total of 224 votes, far ahead of Ryu Jae-sun (50 votes, 22.3%) and Hwang Kyung-soo (32, 14.2%).

During his active career, Lee served as a three-time world businessman and seven-time Baekdu businessman. In the 1980s, he was a ssireum star with Lee Man-ki and Lee Bong-gul. He is nicknamed the "gentleman of the sand" for his good looks and good manners. After retirement, he served as the head of the Korean Wrestling Association's Gyeonggi Operations Division until recently.

After the election, Lee said, "I am grateful to have been elected with a precious vote of all those who wish to develop ssireum " and "I will be an honest leader for the future of ssireum and the association, and I will listen to the voices of ssireum and create a better environment." I will be the chairman who shows it through actions instead of words." It announced that it will also work to expand the base of youth wrestling, revise the rules of daily sports games, cooperate with university wrestling, separate operation of folk wrestling, develop official applications, build a gym dedicated to ssireum, and expand the base of the ssireum population.

Chairman Lee's term will be four years from the regular general meeting of the House of Representatives on January 16 next year to the day before the 2029 general meeting of the House of Representatives.

Last month, the Korea Ssireum Association formed an election management committee and conducted fair and clean elections through 233 electors, including leaders, athletes, and hobbyists.
