Kim Do-kyu, a right-hander born in 1998, joined Lotte as the 23rd overall pick in the second third round in the 2018 rookie draft after graduating from Chungam Middle School and Ansan Technical High School.

He played in the first team only five games this season and spent a longer time with the Futures with one loss and a 9.00 ERA. The Futures record is 4 wins, 2 losses, 8 holds, 7 saves, and a 5.08 ERA.
In particular, Lotte was embroiled in a controversy just a year ago over the drunk detection of a promising player. In November last year, it was belatedly known that Bae Young-bin, a former infielder, was caught by police in a drunk driving crackdown in Seoul on October 23, and Bae Young-bin hid it without reporting it to the club. Lotte, which belatedly grasped the situation, reported it to the KBO Clean Baseball Center.
In the end, Lotte released Bae Young-bin on November 16 as a result of discussions by its own disciplinary committee.
Lotte is concerned about internal management of the team as another drunk driving accident occurred in just over a year.
