Chung Mong-kyu, chairman of the Korea Football Association (KFA), who declared his bid for the fourth term, was the first to register as a candidate.

The registration of candidates for the 55th Korea Football Association (KFA) election began on the 25th. Chairman Chung said on the same day that he was the first to register as a candidate for the 55th president of the Korea Football Association.

The registration period for candidates is until the 27th, and the election will be held on January 8 next year. The new chairman's term begins on the 22nd. While Chairman Chung has registered as a candidate, Huh Jung-moo, former chairman of Hana Citizen in Daejeon, and Shin Moon-sun, a professor at Myongji University's Graduate School of Recording and Information Science, have already filed a challenge. If Chairman Huh and Professor Shin complete their registration, the head of Korean soccer will be elected through elections for the first time in 12 years since 2013.

Chairman Chung decided to seek a fourth term on the 28th of last month. He rose to the top of the KFA in 2013. In 2016, he won re-election with a unanimous vote, and in 2021, he ran alone and reached a third term without a vote.

The Sports Fair Committee of the Korea Sports Council held a closed-door general meeting at the Olympic Hall in Seoul on the 11th and deliberated on and approved Chairman Chung's fourth term approval agenda. Chairman Chung held a press conference to run for president of KFA at the Ponyjeong Foundation Building in Seoul on the 19th.

He proposed four things: ▶ restoring trust in the Korea Football Association through bold reform ▶ enhancing international competitiveness in Korean soccer ▶ completing the Korea Football Center (Cheonan Center) ▶ expanding the base of soccer through the completion of the video platform system.

Chairman Chung said "I thought more than ever and listened to various people. Because he was deeply aware of the criticism, he also had a long time to gain insight into himself. I wanted to put it down, but I thought it was not about fulfilling my responsibilities as a person who has worked for the development of soccer in the past 12 years"I will accept the criticism of the wrong thing without adding or subtracting it and use it as nourishment for the association and development. With greater responsibility than anyone else, I will do my best for the future of Korean soccer with a firm determination to solve the problem."

And "I've received a lot of rebukes in the last few months. I thought a lot about it. I thought about how and what to improve. I can accept some of the rebukes, but it was quite unfortunate that it affected the performance of the coaches and players. "It is an important time ahead of the completion of the Cheonan Center. The division system is not yet complete. Many people 'If this goes a little wrong, there is a possibility that it will retreat. Isn't it a more responsible attitude to complete to some extent?' Personally, it's hard, but I'm back here. It has currently invested 70 billion won for the Cheonan Center. Cheonan City invested more than 200 billion won to complete a considerable amount. I'm getting ready for bed. (financial matters) have been objectively sufficiently verified. I think I can do a little better. The process of persuading the divisional promotion system is important. I have an idea that I want to complete."

Chairman Chung plans to announce his pledge at the Korea Football Center in Shinmun-ro, Seoul, on the 26th, under the banner of `Again, Happy Korea with Soccer.' Chairman Chung added, `We intend to proceed with the proposal of a three-way debate requested by other candidates after the presentation of specific pledges by other candidates regarding the schedule and method.'
