Chairman Oh died while battling liver cancer at a hospice ward in Seoul on the afternoon of the 20th. Chairman Oh, who was sentenced to liver cancer, has been working in the women's soccer field, cheering for the team at the Australia-New Zealand Women's World Cup last year without informing his family and aides of his illness. Since taking office as president of the Women's Football Federation in 2009, he has led the development of the WK League and women's soccer, and until recently, he has actively communicated with the government, local governments, and the media to argue about ways to develop women's soccer. On the 9th, while preparing for a new term by succeeding in the fifth term, the condition has rapidly deteriorated recently.
Without attending the Women's Football Federation Awards and the rookie draft event on the 12th, he moved to the hospice ward due to his deteriorating condition, but he closed his eyes on the day without recovering his energy.
Chairman Oh, who graduated from Kyungshin-Korea University, was selected as a national team member in 1977 and was a player-turned-administrator who served as vice president of professional soccer Ulsan Hyundai and business soccer Ulsan Hyundai Mipo Chosun, and has been linked to women's soccer since 2003 as vice president of the Women's Football Federation. He led women's soccer to its peak in 2010 by winning the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, ranking third in the U-20 Women's World Cup, and advancing to the Women's World Cup for the third consecutive time. The soccer players are reportedly discussing with the bereaved families how to hold a funeral as the president of the Korea Football Association.
The mortuary is at Room 30 of the funeral hall of Asan Medical Center in Seoul, the coffin is at 10 a.m. on the 23rd, and the burial site is at Suwon City Hall. (02)3010-2000
