KIA Tigers succeeded in recruiting foreign players 'Great Class'. KIA, which had been watching the FA market in the stove league this winter, prepared for next year by signing a big foreign player contract.

KIA officially announced on the 16th that it signed a total of 1 million dollars (about 1.44 billion won) with foreign pitcher Adam Oler, including a down payment of 200,000 dollars, an annual salary of 600,000 dollars and incentives of 200,000 dollars. Oler is a fireballer with an average four-seam fastball speed of more than 150km. KIA is also close to signing Patrick Wisdom, a 20-homer slugger for the third consecutive year in the Major League. There was no external FA transfusion, but it achieved a clear upgrade of foreign players.

Oler is a right-handed pitcher from Texas. He is 1m 93 and weighs 102kg. He also lasted three seasons in the Major League.

Aller had 5 wins and 13 losses with a 6.54 ERA in 36 games (23 starts) in the Major League. In the minor leagues, he recorded 21 wins and 9 losses with a 5.01 ERA in 57 games (45 starts). In 2024, he played in eight major league games for the Miami Marlins, marking 25 earned runs in 42 ⅓ innings, 2 wins, 4 losses and a 5.31 ERA. He had four wins and one loss with a 5.30 ERA in 18 games (9 starts) in Triple-A.

KIA explained about Oler as a player with outstanding strikeout ability based on powerful fastballs in the 150km/h range and high-angle breaking balls.

According to 'Fangraph', Oller uses fastballs and curve changeups as his main weapons. 51% fastball. Curve was 41% and change-up was 7%. In the KBO League, it is expected that it will be able to overwhelm batters with power. A pattern is drawn that induces swings and misses by using change-ups as a crystal ball while pitching mainly on fastballs and controlling the speed with curves.

An official from Kia said, `Adam Oler was hired with the expectation that he would play a one-two punch role as a starting pitcher along with James Nail. As he started all major league games this season, he has a lot of experience in starting. He will be a pillar of the starting rotation for next season and we expect it to be a great addition to the team."

Wisdom, who has almost reached an agreement, also has an unusual profile. It is surprisingly similar to Matt Davidson of the NC Dinos, the home run king of the KBO League this year. Davison walked 88 and struck out 381 in 1,112 at-bats in the major leagues. The strikeout rate per at-bat is 34.3 percent. The walk/strikeout ratio is 23.1%. Wisdom had 132 walks and 540 strikeouts in 1,473 at-bats in the Major League. The strikeout rate is 36.7% and the walk/strikeout rate is 24.4%.

Davison immediately showed off his presence in his first season in the KBO League. Davison hit .36 with 46 homers and 119 RBIs in 131 games and 567 at-bats. The on-base percentage was 370%, but he struck out 142 times while getting 39 walks. The strikeout rate is 25% and the walk/strikeout rate is 27%. Although his pioneering eyes have not improved particularly compared to the U.S. days, batting average and home runs have soared. Based on this, Wisdom's success can also be expected.

During the offseason, second-ranked Samsung and third-ranked LG strengthened their power with FA. Samsung spent a total of 7 billion won to recruit starting pitcher Choi Won-tae and retained internal FA Ryu Ji-hyuk at 2.6 billion won. LG strengthened its bullpen by holding reliever Jang Hyun-sik at 5.2 billion won and Kim Kang-ryul at 1.4 billion won. KIA started defending the throne by replacing two foreign cards in a surprise move.
