Sports Promotion Corporation completed the "2024 Sports Star Sports Classroom" successfully, expanding opportunities for youth participation in sports in underprivileged areas

The Seoul Olympic Memorial National Sports Promotion Foundation (Chairman Ha Hyung-joo) announced that it has successfully completed the '2024 Sports Star Sports Class' project, which was promoted to promote sports by expanding opportunities for youth in underprivileged areas to participate in sports with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The project, which promoted visiting classes for 45 general schools in the island mountain area and 11 juvenile protection facilities nationwide, featured 25 former and current national team players, including Han Ki-beom (basketball), Kang Hee-chan (table tennis), and Kim Gun-woo (athletics), as lecturers, providing 56 sports experiences to a total of 1,659 students.

In addition, a total of 300 elementary school students near the venue participated in the Sports Camp held in Daejeon Metropolitan City, Jinju City, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, and Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Province, to experience various programs such as events and mini-Olympics. In particular, star players who watched on TV, including Hyun Jung-hwa (table tennis), Ki Bo-bae (Archery), Ha Tae-kwon (badminton), Ahn Kyung-hyun, Park Yong-taek, Kim Han-soo, Jang Sung-ho, Oh Chul-min, Ahn Chi-yong, and Cho Yong-joon (baseball), participated in the talent donation hoping for healthy growth of children and adolescents.

An official from the Sports Corporation said, "This year, we have made efforts to provide sports opportunities to youths and children who do not fully enjoy sports activities due to geographical and environmental restrictions, including Ulleungdo."We will strive to provide more diverse sports welfare services to more sports marginalized areas next year as well."
