"Kanghee the Great" Will Choi Kang-hee return as Jeonbuk coach.

Multiple officials familiar with the soccer industry said through Sports Chosun on the 16th that `Coach Choi broke up with Shandong Taishan (China). Choi and Shandong reportedly had a disagreement over recruiting players.

Coach Choi left the K-League and entered the Chinese Super League stage after the 2018 season. After passing through Tianjin Quanjian, Dalian Yifang, and Shanghai Rudy Shenhua-Shanghai Shenhua, he took the helm of Shandong in 2023. He recorded 16 wins, 10 draws and 4 losses (58 points) at the helm of Shandong. He demonstrated the power of a Korean leader in China. Some have rumored that Choi will be appointed to the Chinese national soccer team A.

Choi, who was showing leadership on the Chinese stage, chose to break up with Shandong. In the soccer world, regret over the performance and differences of opinion on recruiting players are considered reasons for the breakup. However, the timing is exquisite. This is because of the situation in Jeonbuk, which head coach Choi led for more than 10 years.

Jeonbuk announced on the 16th that it had terminated its contract under mutual agreement with head coach Kim Doo-hyun. Coach Kim was appointed as Jeonbuk's head coach in May, replacing Dan Petrescu. Jeonbuk gave the baton to head coach Kim, who was considered a smart leadership and tactical-oriented leader to rebound the team and build a new operating system. However, coach Kim finished 10th in the K League 1 as a disappointing result in the final round. It failed to avoid the promotion playoff. Many fans were disappointed with the contents and results of this season's game that did not meet expectations, although they succeeded in staying by winning both the first and second rounds of PO against Seoul E-Land.

After breaking up with head coach Kim, Jeonbuk said it plans to fairly and quickly appoint the best person among the coach candidates with leadership and outstanding tactics and strategies to realize the team's re-leap and rebuild.

Jeonbuk selected a new coach candidate early on. It is known that the focus of the appointment of the next head coach was on 'Experience' and 'Taking control of the squad'. According to the soccer community, former and current K-League coaches, including Choi and former Gangwon FC coach Yoon Jeong-hwan, have been included in the candidate list.

Coach Choi, who was in charge of Jeonbuk from 2005 to 2018, opened the Jeonbuk World, moved to China in 2019. He led Jeonbuk to the K-League, the Asian Champions League (ACL), and the Korea Football Association Cup (currently the Korea Cup). He also led the team to the top in 2018, when he broke up with Jeonbuk. Coach Choi is said to still have a close relationship with the team's leadership.
