On the 20th (local time), the British daily 「Guardian" unveiled the final 1st to 10th in the world's top 100'2024 world's best soccer player rankings by voting for soccer players and media.
Rodri, who won the Ballon d'Or in 2024, jumped four spots from fifth place last year to take the top spot. Rodri led the English Premier League (EPL) and the Spanish national team to Euro 2024 in the 2023-2024 season as a 'irreplaceable' midfielder for Manchester City and Spain.
Rodri is the first defensive position player to be selected as soccer player of the year, which will be held at the end of the year by the Guardian since 2012.
Vinicius, who won the double (Lariga, Champions League) in the 2023-2024 season, rose four places to second place compared to last year. Vinicius, who beat Rodri to become the best player at the 「The Best FIFA Football Awards 2024" announced on the 18th, was behind Rodri in the Guardian's Player of the Year following the Ballon d'Or.
There were 47% of judges who picked Rodri as the No. 1 pick, and 37% for Vinicius. Rodri scored a total of 7495 points, beating Vinicius (7427) by 68 points.

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane ranked 6th, Lautaro Martinez (Inter Milan) ranked 7th, Florian Birz (Leverkusen) ranked 8th, Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid) ranked 9th, and Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid) ranked 10th.

Tottenham has two players from Son Heung-min and defender Christian Romero (83rd), while Kim Min-jae's team from Munich combined with 76th-ranked Jojua Kimmich and 85th-ranked Michael Olise, with four selected. Lee Kang-in's team, Paris Saint-Germain, also tied Fabian Lewis, No. 44, Vitinha, No. 47, and Bradley Barcola, No. 88, with four players listed in the TOP 100.
This year's vote involved 197 people, including Demetrio Albertini, Siem de Jong, Philip Lam, Bebetu, Lucas Leyva and Juninho Pernambucano.
