Yang Jin-bang, the current president of the Korea Taekwondo Association (67), has won a second term.

Chairman Yang won 136 out of 201 valid votes in the 30th presidential election of the Korea Taekwondo Association held at Olympic Parktel Olympia Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 15th, beating Kim Se-hyuk (69), who received 65 votes. As a result, Chairman Yang, who won the majority of the valid votes according to the chairman's election management regulations, became the elected president. The electors consisted of a total of 209 representatives from city and provincial member organizations and national federations, including executives, leaders, athletes, referees, and registered Taekwondo studio leaders. Eight abstained.

Yang, a former professor at Yongin University, boasts abundant administrative experience. He has experienced important positions such as the Korean Taekwondo Association and the World Taekwondo Federation.

Yang served as the executive director of the Korea Taekwondo Association, the secretary-general, and the auditor of the Korea Sports Association, and has served as an executive member of the World Taekwondo Federation (WT) and vice chairman of the Asian Taekwondo Federation.



In December 2020, he was elected as the 29th head of the association. During his tenure as the president of the association, he made achievements such as 'stable operation of the association', 'attracting sponsors', 'adoption of the official event of the Pumsae National Sports Festival', 'launch of official breaking matches', and 'hosting power taekwondo'.

In his 30th presidential election, Chairman Yang pledged to create a high-quality competition for ▶ breakthrough-demonstration, revitalize ▶ virtual Taekwondo, create ▶ Taekwondo contents, innovate ▶ screening system, and strengthen ▶ adult Taekwondo.



After his election, Chairman Yang said, "Not only the Taekwondo Association but the Korean sports community as a whole is in a very difficult time. We will do our best to overcome this difficulty with all the members of our association and to expand the new stage for the future."

Chairman Yang's second term will begin from the regular general meeting scheduled to be held on January 23 next year. The term of the association's president is four years, until 2029.
